Fishing: fishing spots and bite forecast on the map

When will the fish bite, and on what? Eräkaveri turns weather, air pressure, water temperature and river flow into a bite forecast, suggests lures and shows depth contours and the best spots.

Fishing spots come from depth, not from rumours

Best spots are not built from rumours or users' catch reports: Eräkaveri reads Traficom depth contours and computes the depth zones that suit the chosen species: basin edges for zander, rocky bottoms for perch, weed edges for pike. The Best spots layer shades these areas on the map. Depth data covers sea areas and large lakes with fairways; small forest lakes have no contours.

The bite forecast tells you when to go

The forecast is computed hourly for the chosen species from Finnish Meteorological Institute weather, pressure trend, water temperature from the nearest SYKE station, time of day and moon phase. It is a conditions model, not a guarantee of a bite.

The fishing guide: lure, technique and depth in one view

The lure guide suggests lure type, size, colours and line by species and season, the conditions coach refines the choice from today's weather, and Where the fish are points to the species' depth zone on the water you are looking at. In winter the guide switches to balance jigs and mormyshkas, and the ice model estimates thickness – a model, never a measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Does the app show other anglers' spots?

Only catches an angler has chosen to share, at about 100 m accuracy and without a name. Best spots are computed from depth contours and the species' depth needs, not from user reports. The catch log is private by default.

Does the app include a fishing licence?

No. The fisheries fee and local permits are bought separately; the app shows the restriction areas on the map.
