The Bear's Trail and the Little Bear's Trail

The Bear's Trail is a route of about 80 kilometres from Hautajärvi to Ruka along the Oulankajoki and Kitkajoki valleys, typically a four-to-six-day trek between wilderness huts and lean-tos. The Little Bear's Trail at Juuma is a 12-kilometre day loop with suspension bridges. Eräkaveri shows both with elevation profiles and huts; trail weather tells you when the stairs on the river banks are wet.

Kitkajoki and Oulankajoki

The Kitkajoki rapids are among Finland's best-known trout and grayling waters and are Metsähallitus permit areas with their own rules. The app's flow data shows when the rapids are fishable after rain. Rivers without fairways have no depth contours.

Dippers and Siberian jays

Dippers winter on the rapids and Siberian jays move through the old spruce forest. Recent sightings appear in the birds mode from GBIF data.
