When pike feed

Pike are a cool-water fish: the best spells are spring right after spawning in May and autumn in September–October once water cools below 12 °C. In midsummer heat big pike go deeper; try early morning. In winter, tip-ups with bait at 1–4 m. Falling pressure ahead of a front is often the best moment.
